YHL T-SHIRTS
India is the world’s second largest cotton producer. But the price of cotton has plummeted, not least because the world’s biggest producer, the USA, heavily subsidizes its own cotton farmers. The World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and a whole lot of other guys in suits have been trying to find ways to address this for years. In the meantime, more than 200,000 farmers have committed suicide while further hundreds of thousands have been “relocated” by water shortage. We think that’s wrong. We want to do something about it. And we hope you’ll help. It’s a way of demonstrating your support for people in need, whilst also acquiring some awesome apparel.
The M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) is a non-profit organization in India, whose basic mandate is to impart a pro-nature, pro-poor and pro-women orientation to a job-led economic growth strategy in rural areas through harnessing science and technology for environmentally sustainable and socially equitable development. What does that mean? As mentioned above, thousands of men, husbands, brothers, and fathers are committing suicide and with that, leaving behind their families. MSSRF helps these widows, children, and families by sponsoring them for food, clothing, and education.
A percentage of the profits from Yeh Hai Life! are donated directly to this organization in India, working with these farmer families affected by the devastation of the cotton industry.
OUR ACCESSORIES
Right off the bat - it's not fancy material, but it's not paper, nor cloth, nor some kind of bullit-proof material. It’s recycled polyethylene bags!
