Via TOI comes this important memo: ‘Bobby refuses to spank buttocks.’ It’s a film about extramarital affairs involving the obligatory song objectifying women (mostly bikini clad Caucasian ones of course), performing raunchy dance steps in a nightclub. But, the happily married star and his PR team will have you know that he draws the line at dance moves involving spanking butts. (see video below)
Science and technology has made it possible for humans to beat natural selection. It is making us fatter though.
By next year humans will be touring space. And, they’re going to need a zero gravity beer that tastes good even if gases and liquids can’t separate. History will note the Aussies were the first to develop such a beer. The beer is modeled on the India Pale Ale recipe – beer specifically formulated to withstand the journey from Britain to India back in the late 1700s.
Hattip: Satyamshot for pointing us to the video of the song from the film ‘Thank You.’

Yup. Freeflowing and completely unprovoked snark this morning. Why? Because we hate lists in general. More specifically, lists that rank beauty based on which faces the judges happen to remember, and condescending enough to throw in at least one token beauty from ‘emerging’ economies in the news.
But don’t tell the Indian media that. Pinto’s #38 ranking aside, they are gushing that she beat Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts. Seriously guys, have some self respect!

Ok that was bound to happen sometime now or later. It’s the fickle beast called advertising that must be fed new things to stay alive and relevant.
Which provides us with this catty, sexist, ageist quote from Poonam Saxena of the Hindustan Times:
“It marks the waning of her (Aishwarya Rai) star. She’s had some films which have not been successful, she’s not looking herself, she has put on a bit of weight, she’s married, 37, and it appears she has had her time. That’s the perception,” she said.

A millionaire Indian-American marries his Indian-American doctor wife in Auckland in what is evidently New Zealand’s first exposure to a big fat Indian wedding. (All the glitzy details at Dominion Post)
To quote that famous credit card commercial. Choppers, horses, limos etc: $9 Million. International publicity: $0. Lifetime of happiness: Priceless (hopefully)
On a separate note: why does the western media always credit Bollywood for all things Indian that they don’t get? Indian weddings have always been long and lavish affairs. Long long long before Bollywood got on the scene. Just sayin’
Anyways, here’s wishing the couple an opulent and happy married life!

Let it not be said that Indians lack ingenuity and drama when it comes to marriage proposals.
GlobalPost has a really interesting article about young Romeos going the whole 9-yards and beyond on proposing – they’re showering petals from choppers and even fake kidnapping for that one little word ‘yes.’ All made possible by resourceful companies like MyGenie who are in the business of ‘imagination.’
(Read full post at Globalpost): From private yachts to personalized action movie sequences, more and more young lovers are popping the question with increasingly elaborate — often borderline outlandish — theatrics. One groom-to-be got a nightclub to stop the music long enough for him to propose to his girlfriend in front of a crowd that chanted on cue: “Say yes! Say yes!”
Enter the Mumbai company that offers to help its clients make their wildest wedding proposal dreams come true.
“We’re giving you what you dream,” said Bhabesh Mehta, the 28-year-old founder of MyGenie, which he describes as a personal occasion management company. “You tell me the weirdest thing; I can make it happen for you.”
Just for displaying extraordinary resourcefulness we hope and wish these young couples live happily ever after.
