MF Husain’s son, Owais Husain, doesn’t have it easy. His father was called the “Picasso of India” by Forbes Magazine, but his paintings had become so crontroversial (20 years after they had already been painted), that MF Husain had to leave India for security reasons, and is now a citizen of Qatar.
So, Owais has to deal with not only political pressures, but also massive shoes to fill. You be the judge, though we think he’s doing quite well!

400 calls in one day in a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) call center manned by 25 operators according to the National.
The numbers to call are 1800-11-0180 and on 011-24651000. (Read more at Zee News on who, what, when you can call)
Meanwhile all talk and no action isn’t going anywhere beyond whitewashing the problem. But hey, acknowledging we have a problem is as good a place to start as any.

Here’s a little background on this post – yesterday I saw a wallpost on Facebook about India spending 150 crore rupees on a security system for Obama’s November visit. The comments were interesting – people were pissed! Pissed that India was spending that much money on a US President’s visit. More interesting are the anti-American sentiment that show up on these threads…”America needs India more than vice versa, India should stop doing what America tells it,” etc, etc.
A little digging and it seems this article from DNA India is the most widely quoted source of the information. It seems pretty clear from the article that the security system (codenamed C4Eye) was imported for the recently held Commonwealth Games. This is the first time it will be used for a head of state visit after that CWG outing.
So now we know.

So we know rich folks love to collect cars, yachts, jets, bling and so on. It’s their money and we’ll die a few years earlier from carbon pollution….as will they, so we’re even somehow. But paying money to kill a majestic 9-foot tall stag just so they can stick its head in their living rooms as a trophy? WTF is wrong with these people?
(Full Post at Independent) Exmoor, a former royal hunting ground, is popular with both local hunters and wealthy outsiders, who fly in on jets or helicopters to stalk the populations of red deer. They pay landowners to hunt legally on their land.
The restaurateur and property businessman Richard Caring, who last year offered a £15,000 reward for information after two stags were killed on his 500-acre Exmoor estate, is among those who want to know how the Emperor came to be killed.
